Absolutely delicious and affordable! You can't beat a dinner with 3 sides for 13$ish dollars. The customer service is impeccable! The way they box tour food and drink when you leave and give you a warm welcome when you come in blows my mind away!
Catfish cooked and seasoned to perfection, mashed potatoes loaded with flavor and the gravy is so Bomb I had to ask for some on the side! Greens were a little too salty but still tasty. Mac cheese is perfect! Spaghetti is probably one the best I've had in a while. Super meaty for a side dish & so many great flavors!
Toledo is lucky to have J'maes! Must stop by! :)

So me and my boyfriend were looking for soul food in the Toledo area. The original place we wanted to go to was closed on Wednesday's. So I searched soul food places in the area & J mae's came up. I red the reviews and everyone was saying the food was great! The staff was very friendly even the customers who came through the door. I ordered the catfish dinner which comes w/ 3 sides y'all!!! I ordered the cabbage (which was amazing, a little on the spicy side) yams, as well as Mac & cheese. They give you just the right amount of food. I wanted to try their peach cobbler or even banana pudding but I didn't have enough room. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for some great comfort food!

Conveniently located right by the hospital, I was given a coffee shortly before I came here for breakfast. I felt silly walking in with an outside beverage but the waitress didn't even bat an eye and asked if I wanted a refill. I appreciate the attitude she had and I think it says a lot about the place. I had two eggs and rye toast which was quite good but I don't have anything else to offer insofar as opinion on their menu.

I am very surprised. Gave it a few visits before writing a review because if you go to soul food places then you know how it goes at a lot of them. We are out of.. we don't got no... you'll have to wait 45 more minutes for.. However this is an exception. Each visit I have gotten food to go and have waited 15 minutes or less for really good fresh food.
I've tried the chicken wings, catfish, the collard greens, yams, macaroni and cheese and all are really really good. I especially like the seasoning on the catfish. No need for tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. They give you really large portions except for the cornbread. You get one small muffin and it's just okay. Pineapple upside down cake was pretty good. Maybe a little overly sweet. Price for meal with 3 sides. $12. The staff has been friendly each time and I enjoyed sitting chopping it up at the little counter area with some other folks waiting on their food. I told them they should consider making it a real bar with maybe beer and wine. This is the best soulfood I have found in Toledo area. Highly recommended.
